It lies at the very centre of the land against a backdrop of breath-taking mountain scenery and flows freely and peacefully with the outside desert landscape The building is approached through a long avenue lined with palm trees. It is a multi-domed stone structure that is built in a distinctive ecological style. We have our own Well (good underground water /drinkable), our own electricity and drainage systems) Hot water supply is offered by a dual system of solar/electrical heaters

The retreat has 16 individual studios with an overall capacity for 40/52 residents.  Each consists of two joining rooms with their ensuite facilities, is set in a landscaped garden and embrace our unique Blue Lotus Pond. All the studios have individual antique doors that carry the names of thinkers and artists connected with the philosophy of ancient Hermopolis.

All Studios are tastefully furnished and decorated in an authentic Egyptian style using local material and local handicraft. They have bathrooms, minibar, electric kettle and standing fan. Mobile internet is accessible outside the studios in the landscaped gardens with its beautiful seating area that surrounds our Blue Lotus Pond. The Retreat is served with a reception/reading corner, kitchen, restaurant (Banquet Room) and Swimming Pool in addition to a Conference / Seminar and a Library room. There are as well several outdoor areas for seating and theatrical / musical performances.

Three types of Accommodation | Regular Studios, Superior King / Suits and Wings

Regular Studios | 8 / each consists of an entrance seating area and two joining rooms ( max 3 individuals).

Superior King / Suits | 4/ each consists of an entrance area, two joining rooms- one for sleeping with king size beds (max 2 individuals) the other one is for lounging.

Wings | Bigger in size with a larger sleeping and seating areas. Three exclusive wings with a king size bed (max 2 individuals) and one family wing with 1 King size bed and 2 Single beds. (max 4. individuals)

How to reach us…

You can reach us by car via the eastern/western desert road direction Assuit/exit Mallawi, or by train from Cairo/ Mallawi followed by a taxi ride to New Hermopolis/ Tuna El-Gebel. Transport from Cairo can be arranged on request.
