Revival of the ancient Thoth’s Festival - The Hermopolis international literary festival

A literary festival ...
is planned to be held once a year  with the aim of reviving the  ancient Egyptian festival of integrity that was used to be held around the 23rd of Oct 7th Khoiack in the honour of the guardian of writers (Thoth). This festival is intended to be modelled on the famous literary and poetry festival of Hay- on –Wye in the UK, which hosts writers, poets and publishers from all over the world. This festival is held once a year in village of Hay in Wales which has in recent years became the book centre of the world. The Hay- on- Wye experiment has already served as a model for similar events around the world including the Cartagena in Columbia and in Mallorca, Spain. The Thoth festival intends to honour a particular poet each year in view of the fact that the Hermetic tradition had its influence on several important poets, ancient and contemporary The literary roots of the ancient Hermopolis which influenced literature and philosophy across the ages should add appeal and strength to the uniqueness of this specific festival, It is hoped therefore that Thoth’s festival would in due course achieve a reputation in the world literary calendar.

A poetry prize ... is planned as part of the Thoth’s festival and will be awarded once a year as a mark of distinction to a national and/or an international poet. The award ceremony for the prize will coincide with the literary festival (Thoth’s Festival). The national poetry prize is planned to encourage poetry in the vernacular language.
